War Bells is No More

All,

I don't think for a second that anybody actually reads or even visits this page.  But if you happen upon it in hopes of finding out when we'll play Trophy's next, please make a note that we've hung it up as a band.  To give all the gory details, things were said, glass bottles were broken, throats were unsuccessfully slashed, and then we cried and cried.  Afterwords, we just decided that instead of trying to continually kill each other with sharp hunks of broken stuff, we should just hang it up and call it good.

It was quite a ride, and there is no bad blood between the members.  Since I can't figure out how to delete this blog, it'll stay up until I can figure it out.  Until then, you can enjoy music that only probably 3 people in the entire world have ever heard, watch video of my groinal area and guitar solos, and find out what we think of softcore pornography by watching the videos.  I think we'll still have music available for download at our Bandcamp site, which I think we're also having trouble figuring out how to delete.  So get it while you can!

Keep on the lookout for me, your old buddy Andy, in other projects that seem woefully inappropriate for my aimless, willy-nilly style of guitar shredding.  Because, after all, I've never been in a band where incessant wanking was the right thing to do, and I don't intend to start now.  It's much easier to just ruin somebody's music by transfixing them with blind technical prowess.

Excelsior to you!

Yours,
Andy

New Show Date Confirmed

Greetings from the War Bells Command Center.

Band Mom already announced the show before I could get off my fat duff and do it myself, and since I already wrote this whole thing, I'll just announce it again.

We don't normally do this (though I hope this is a sign that times are a-changin'), but it looks like we're going to be playing another show.  Two shows in one month?!?  It's as if we're a functioning, active band!

Really we're not.  But it's fun to pretend.

We confirmed a date at Trophy's Bar and Grill (located at 2008 South Congress Avenue, 78704) on Saturday, February 4th.  Excelsior to us!  Pro tip: they only have the word "grill" in the name to trick you.  Don't eat anything you find lying around in there.

It's a great venue, and we're happy they're having us back.  Considering it's the only venue we ever play, I probably shouldn't make fun of them.  Since we're only superficially active to begin with, though, they wouldn't actually hurt us at all by not having us back to play again.  We would just leave Mike's living room marginally less often.

So come on out and have some drinkies with your old buddy Andy and the rest of us, then watch me stagger around the stage while everyone else remains perfectly still throughout the entire set.  Another joke, of course; Mike has to move his arms and one of his feet to play drums.

We play at 10:30.  Come early and hang out, and keep in mind that Trophy's is known to play it fast and loose, so we could also open or headline, depending on whether any of the other bands show up or not.

Come on out!  And if you want to talk to me after the show, I'll be...surprised (I didn't make up that joke.  Mitch Hedberg did).

Yours,
Andy

NEW GIG (2/4/12)!!!

Hey, folks.  Just a heads up that we have a new show scheduled for 10:30PM on 2/4/12 at Trophy's.  It's a Saturday, and it's not like you had anything better to do, so come listen to our tasty riffs and lyrics about dying grandmothers or something.  It's a treat for kids of all ages (note: unless you are under 21, in which case Trophy's wont' let you in the door).

See you there!

"Caught in the Wires" Rehearsal Video

Since our last show was such a powerhouse performance, I'm suddenly energized to get stuff put together for the band again.  It's been a while since I've posted, and that's largely because I've been blowing off posting this video on Youtube.  The first video which I've already posted took forever to upload; turns out, if you're uploading a 220 KB video on Youtube and streaming Law and Order reruns on Netflix at the same time, both of them get all slow and fucked up.  This time I'm watching season 3 of the Simpsons on DVD (I feel like a caveman when I watch DVDs), so my bandwidth isn't being monopolized with the witty one liners of Lenny Briscoe or the righteous fury of Jack McCoy.  What I'm trying to say is, this one didn't take nearly as long.  Now I know.

At any rate, stay tuned for new performance dates, which I've never posted about before because we almost never play live (much to my eternal chagrin).  We are also working on new material, so there will be more recordings and videos available in the not-too-distant future, which will be good for the three people who have ever visited this blog.

Speaking of sites that nobody visits, we've also got our Bandcamp page running, so go check out our music and download it for free while we still have free downloads to give away.  There's only 200 that Bandcamp allows, which is a bummer, but since nobody has ever heard of us, I assume that those 200 downloads will last forever.  Go get you some here:

www.warbellsrock.bandcamp.com

And if you're more interested in our newer fare and listening to me opine about softcore pornography, watch the video below.

Not only do I not know how to edit a video, but I wouldn't do it anyway.  Also note the camera placement focuses solely on me, which is just the way I likes it.  The song is called "Caught in the Wires" and is about politics and drugs and stuff.  Classic!

Stay tuned for more War Bells news and views, including some live shows when we get them confirmed and which television shows I'll be watching.

Yours,
Andy

Rehearsal Video for a New Song

This is a video taken at our secret bunker rehearsal space on December 10, 2011.  The song doesn't have a title, but given Tony's penchant for lyric writing, I'm going to assume it'll be called "Revolution of God's Drug," though I'm more interested in a title like "Balls Deep" or "Getcha Sexin'" because I'm really in to AC/DC and 90's R&B boy groups.

Eventually we'll have a title and then we'll record it; until then, enjoy this primitive video where you can't see anybody but me and you can't hear anybody but Mike.

Andy

War Bells is...

War Bells is a band of aging rockers from Austin, TX.  We stand for freedom, and peace, and drugs, and probably some other stuff that is cool.  We like to occupy things, but from the comfort of our couches, which we purchased with our salaries from our high-power, high-paying jobs.

War Bells is a statement against what's wrong in America, or something better.  We haven't decided yet.

Visit this page for news and views, and see what I want to tell you when I get drunk.

Yours,
